4 days ago, as Wimbledon was having its final matches, one was greatly anticipated: the men’s single final match between Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic. At the end of the match, Djokovic won 3-1 sets. The 1st set was exciting, with Kyrgios winning and proving that he could win the game, but after the set, Djokovic grew accustomed to Kyrgios’s serves and eventually won.
This is Djokovic’s 7th Wimbledon win. Though Djokovic won the game in the end, he had to fight for it. During the first set, Kyrgios was playing his normal style, hitting the ball between his legs, and making his serves faster than 130mph. With his unique playing style, Kyrgios won the first set.
During the second, third, and fourth sets Djokovic eventually got used to Kyrgios’s serves and playing method which led to him to win all three sets. Though Djokovic ended up winning, Kyrgios had 30 aces throughout the match against Djokovic’s 15 aces. When Kyrgios was asked about Djokovic’s skill, he responded, “He is a bit of a God.”
Since this was Kyrgios’s first grand slam, he was asked if he wanted more matches, his response, “Absolutely not, I’m so tired.” Though he admits that it has been an amazing experience, he says that he might not come back. He says that he earned a vacation after this tournament.
