The Awakening of the Flame
This is the 3rd short story of The Flame Emperor series

After the fight and retreat of the magma emperor, Richard knew that they would come back for revenge. He wanted to awaken his fruit, but he was out of practice with his fruit. After defeating Evan, he hadn’t used any abilities until the day the emperor showed up. Richard needed to travel out of his place, but at the same time, he couldn’t. He knew the emperors were tracking every step Richard made, so he had no choice but to train by himself.

He went to the colosseum the next day, and he saw something a little out of place, a giant wooden training dummy.

He went to ask his neighbors about it, and they said, “Oh, that thing over there. We built it for you to train and get stronger.”

Richard just shrugged and went there to blast fire at the training dummy, but the wood didn’t burn. He recalled that in the library that there was a type of wood that could withstand some of the hottest fires in the world. The wood could withstand any hot type of attack that was not awakened or any natural fire. He knew that awakened fires, compared to normal ones, were far from different. Awakened fire was on the level of the sun.
Even though Richard knew that no matter how hard he attacked, he could not inflict any damage to the wood, he hit it with all of his energy. He eventually got very exhausted, and a fiery orange screen appeared in front of him that read: DANGER Mana 9/100. Richard recalled that mana meant energy that he uses to do things. He could barely move, his arms and legs sore, his head dizzy. He had just then looked at the clock and realized he had trained for 9 entire hours.
He managed to shout, “Help!” before his throat was so dry he could’ve drank 10 gallons of water and it still would be the same.

Luckily, his friends found him lying on the ground, managing to breathe. They carried him back home and laid him on his bed, where he fell asleep quickly. The next day, he went to the library again to browse through the books on mana. He found a book about mana potions, which can replenish any person’s mana almost instantly, and of course, it would help a lot with awakening his fruit. To brew one, he would need grass, water, some minerals, and cocoa powder. He went to gather the materials, which he did very quickly, and used his money to buy a cauldron. In there, he brewed at least enough to fill up 10 bottles of mana potions, which he ended up using 1 of them in training that day.

Richard kept training and training and brewing potions in his free time. Eventually, he saw the fiery screen again, but this time it said: Flame Fruit Mastery 100%. He propelled himself with flames to the library as fast as he could and went to the book he found about fruit awakenings. He needed to find the person who could give him the knowledge of the awakening. According to the book, the person lives in an enchanted tree that cannot be destroyed. He flew using his fire poles that propelled him forward. After about 10 minutes, he found a massive tree sticking out in the middle of the ocean. He found a secret door in the tree, which he opened, and saw a ghostly figure inside.

“Ah, hello, kid, I’ve seen you have got full mastery over flame, let me awaken your fruit for you,” he said.

Richard replied in respect, “Yes, master sensei, please do awaken my fruit so I can defend my town.”

“Very well,” the sensei replied.

He chanted something, and suddenly Richard felt so powerful. Richard waved goodbye and started to fly back to town. On the way back, Richard felt his body surging with power. He grinned with excitement while his mind thought, “Those emperors are not going to stand a chance.”
