New York is a place where you expect the unexpected. I mean, the last time I went to Time Square, I saw 3 naked people dancing. Anyways, New York is a very surprising place. Almost anything weird happening in the world would be a common occurrence for New Yorkers. However, something truly strange happened in New York recently. There was an invasion of ants.

Normally, ants stay rooted to the ground, they make whole colonies in the dirt, and they live their lives without trying to explore what’s above them. Even in more urban areas, ants normally lay low. However, these ants that so rudely invaded New York City had other plans.

According to eyewitness Katie Guhl, she left her apartment on East 81st street “spotless” during the last few days of May to go to a wedding in New Orleans. There was not a single crumb left remaining on the floor. She had never seen ants in her apartment before, obviously, because she lives on the 6th floor of her apartment complex. However, when she came home, she saw thousands upon thousands of ants.

Another terrible case of insect-plotted breaking and entering was with two other witnesses of these terrible events. One states that they lived on the 3rd floor, and the other said that they resided on the 25th floor, and even they saw an army of ants.

Where did these ants come from? Researchers believe that these ants came from Europe. And like a plague, they spread through various methods of transportation. A millennium ago with the black death, which was carried around Europe in cargo ships, similar to how the ants came from European ships docking in the New York Harbor. Of course, this is less severe than a third of Europe passing away.

The whole United States of America is endangered by these ants. And there is no way to tell how much your local pest control will earn every day from now on.
