Red Roses UK Rugby Team Reveals Teammates for World Cup
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, the Red Roses UK rugby team announced their team members for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. It will take place in England, so it’s an important occasion for them.
Fans will recognize many people, such as TikTok sensation and prop Sarah Bern, and Tatyana Herd, the powerhouse center. Emily Scarratt, the veteran center, is expected to be the first English rugby union player to attend five World Cups.
Eight members of the Red Roses will be making their first World Cup appearance. For example, Abi Burton, who scored two tries in her first cap at the 2025 Six Nations against Wales in March, is one of those eight members.
Zoe Aldcroft, who became captain in January and guided the team to winning at the Six Nations earlier in the year, will be captain for the Red Roses.
As Emily Scarratt said, “There are so many lessons [from winning a World Cup].” Also, according to Scarratt, “Even the times we’ve lost in the World Cup finals. Not everything has to be perfect. You think in a successful campaign everything needs to be perfect and on the money, and of course, you’re striving for that, but inevitably there are going to be bumps, there will be things you have to fix.”
England lost by a small amount in the latest World Cup final against New Zealand in November 2022. But, they won all twenty-five matches they’ve played after that. The last time England won the World Cup was in 2014 — will they be able to win again?
