Bike races are held all across the world, from a simple race with your siblings to one watched by millions like the Olympics. The Tour de France is a demanding bike race that challenges competitors to push for the best. It is held in France and lasts for many days on various terrains. For example, bikers need to go through steep and dangerous roads. This humongous challenge is a game performed with multiple teams. Each day, riders go against a different section of the race. Some stages are mountainous, flat, or hilly. Every day might have a different winner based on the cumulative time. A yellow shirt is always worn by the leader to show that they are the team’s leader. The bikers can help each other out during the race. For example, protecting others from the exhausting weather. Sometimes a biker will go as fast as he can to get a good time or to tire out the bikers on the other teams.
For equality in results, the tours are split between genders. This year, the men’s tour covered 2052 miles and lasted for over three weeks. Tadej Pogačar from Slovenia won the race and finished with a time of 72 hours and 32 seconds. The incredible athlete took the title for the fourth time in his career. The women’s tour, which is officially named “Tour de France Femmes,” lasted for nine days. The course included 726 miles. Pauline Ferrand-Prevost, who represented France, won the competition in 29 hours and 54 minutes. Coming close to Pauline was Demi Vollering, who lost by 3 minutes and 42 seconds. Demi had previously won the tour in 2023.
