Recently, the Pacers played Game 5 on Monday, June 16th against the Thunders, and it they lost the game 109-120, and winning the finals will be a lot harder. Fans are worried because they are struggling with offense and turnovers, Tyrese Haliburton’s injury, and the loss of Game 5.
So far in the finals, many fans have noted that the Pacers offense is particularly struggling with turnovers. The Pacers’ intense offense particularly struggles with finding rhythm and balance. This conflicted with their ability to score points at their usual rate and brought up the amount of turnovers per game to 18.6, compared to the Thunder’s 13.4 turnovers per game.
Another handicap the Pacers have to deal with is Tyrese Haliburton’s right leg injury in the first quarter of the game. This is a significant concern for the team, and his future status for the next games is uncertain, as the head coach said he would have to be carefully evaluated. His future status could significantly affect the teams performance in future games.
“We’re playing the best team on the planet,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle conceded. “They’ve proven that the entire year.”
The loss of game 5 puts them at a 3-2 series deficit, which presents a major uphill battle. According to past NBA finals, winning game 5 has a high correlation of 74.2% with winning the series, as the Pacers will have to win 2 games in a row.
