There will be more teams joining the WSL
“Oh my god!” “The number of women in the 100m run has increased so much since the last time I remember!?” The last time I went to see a 100m race, there were only about 5.” These are some things you might say after going to a race these days. A lot more women are joining the Women’s Super League, which was what made the 100m a crowded track.
The Women’s Super League will be expanding from 12 teams to 14 teams at the start of the 2026-2027 season. Therefore, there will be different rules after adding the two teams.
The top two teams at WSL 2 will automatically be a part of WSL. Also, the team that is last in WSL will compete against the third-place team of WSL 2, then the winner will get the final spot. Another change is that the lowest-ranked WSL will be replaced by the top team of WSL 2. But, another big change is that the second-to-last placed team in WSL will play a match against the second place in WSL 2, and then, the winning team will play in the WSL in 2027- 2028. which gives her perspective on the new change.
Ohhh! Now that explains why you saw so many runners for the 100m race. Hopefully, this change will make a good difference, just like Nikki Doucet said.
