More Teams On WSL
Do you know the WSL? It stands for Women’s Super League. It only consists of twelve teams, but that twelve is going to be a fourteen.
The change is going to be at the end of the 2025 to 2026 season. The top two teams from the second tier, which is the WSL 2, will automatically be promoted as part of the change. The team that comes last in the WSL and the team that comes third in the WSL 2 will play off against each other, and the winner gets the final spot in the top league.
A play-off match will be happening between the WSL team in 13th position which is second to last and the team that comes second in the WSL 2. Nikki Doucet, who is the boss of WSL Football, said: “Over the past few months, WSL Football has led a thorough and robust, consultative process backed by research and analysis which explored multiple options that could drive the game forward and help it reach its potential.”
As it stands, the WSL probably will never be the same ever again.
