During the Wimbledon 2025, the competition has had many tough battles with 23 British men and women playing in the men’s and women’s singles which has been very eventful. Only one of the British men is still in the Wimbledon, which is Cameron Norrie who just got past the quarter-finals after a tough match last Saturday with Nicolas Jarry. Jarry is a Chilean tennis player born in Santiago, Chile. After the long, tough 5 sets Cameron won.
At the start of that intense game, Norrie British number 3 started out with a 2 set lead, but Jarry equalized it with 2 sets of his own. So now Norrie and Jarry are down to the last set, the 5th one. It was a fierce and intense battle for about 4 hours. The final set was a tough battle until the end and at the end Norrie came out on top barely. Norrie says that he was impressed how Jarry kept up with him when he had a strong start.
Norrie is now the only British man in the men’s single and with British player Sonay Kartal was the final home player in the women’s singles, but was beaten by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She says she got more people to notice her in the tournament, but she lost unfortunately.
Moreover, British number one Emma Raducana’s Wimbledon journey was ended sadly by world number one Aryna Sabalenka.
Now it is up to Norrie to win with all other British men and women eliminated out of the Wimbledon. With Norrie ranked 61st in the world, he is one win away until he is in the semifinals again like he’s done in 2022, but he has been struggling with an injury that happened last season. Now Norrie has to beat the world number two ranked player, defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz to get to the semifinals.
