Kelly’s career started in high school. She was into science, like a lot of others. She wondered what use science would have in her future job. In 11th grade, she worked on a project that involved analyzing blood in a crime scene. From that moment on, Kelly decided forensics would be her career path. Forensics isn’t that popular of a field, so Kelly didn’t have an easy time with her career and academic struggles in college made it even harder. However, Kelly worked hard and got her dream job. She analyzed samples in a crime lab and trained new forensic scientists. Currently, Knight works at George Mason University, teaching courses. In her free time, she educates the public.

When asked how she became a forensic scientist for an interview, she spoke about how STEM wasn’t for girls in her day. She wanted to be a vet but majored in chemistry instead because she remembered the blood analyzing lab in 11th grade. Kelly Knight has impacted a lot of people, and she has done a lot of amazing things.
