Did Sauropods chew or swallow their food?
Chomp chomp, chomp chomp. This is the sound that scientists thought Sauropods made when they were eating, but the truth is, Sauropods may have sounded more like this, “Gulp, gulp”.
Scientists did an experiment on a 95 million-year-old sauropod named “Judy”. Judy was found in the Australian state of Queensland in 2017. The meaning of this experiment is to see if Sauropods chewed or swallowed their food, which led to a surprising discovery that Sauropods swallowed instead of chewing their foods.
BBC News support this claim by saying, “This means they would not have chewed their food, instead swallowing it whole and letting their digestive systems do the rest of the work.”
Sauropods swallowed their food whole instead of chewing.
