Over the last few years, humans have started worrying more about space colonization, not just as a matter of scientific curiosity, but as a concern tied to the long-term survival of our species. Before that, people only dreamed or wrote about living in space, but now, it seems technologically feasible. However, it is still not reachable because we don’t have the resources to make planets livable, and it is very hard to get there.

Firstly, we don’t have the resources to make the Moon or Mars livable. In order to make Mars livable, we would first need to get it to warm up by around 140 degrees, and then we would need to add oxygen, nitrates, and a magnetic field, which . But according to a NASA study from 2022 that found the sheer amounts of Carbon 12 on Mars, the abundance of carbon on Mars complicates efforts and has made the colonization plan unreachable with current technology.

Also, it is very hard to get to Mars. In order to even get there, it would take 7-10 months according to NASA. You would also need to line up the orbital patterns in order to get back, which only align every 2 years, so you would have to stay there for around 10 months. This would be very uncomfortable for that time until Mars is colonized. So until we can fix that, going to Mars will not be very fun.

Even though colonizing Mars isn’t possible in the near future, we might be able to do it once we can make Mars livable and get there without much hassle. But until then, we should make this planet as nice as possible.
