The BET Awards in Los Angeles didn’t nominate Lil Nas X because of his race. At the awards show on Sunday night, Lil Nas X was notably absent. Lil Nas X has been having trouble with the network lately ever since the lack of a nomination. Later, in the day Lil Nas X said, “thank you bet awards. an outstanding zero nominations again. black excellence!” To express his anger Lil Nas X created a song named “F*** BET.” In one of Lil Nas X’s recent tweets he said, “I just feel like black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world and even when we make it to the top mfs try to pretend we are invisible.”

BET said to Lil Nas X that “nearly 500 entertainment professionals … No one from BET serves as a member of the Voting Academy.” They are saying it has nothing to do with BET, just with the voting members.

In the past, Lil Nas X has received 2 BET award, he has also won 2 of BET’s Hip-Hop awards. Last year he kissed a man dancing in the background. Since Old Town Road came out more and more people started becoming fans of Lil Nas X.

These nomination issues have happened to Drake and Ocean too. Drake was infuriated by how these people treated different races, so he said this after the songs he had written. “The only category that they can manage to fit me in is in a rap category, maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m Black,” said Drake, even when none of Drake’s songs are related to rap. “I’m apparently a rapper, even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song.”-Drake.

All people should be treated equally, like when Macklemore(white) won best rap album over Kendrick Lamar, even when fans disagreed with the results.
