Robert Eugene Crimo carried out a massive shooting at a parade on July Fourth in Highland Park, Illinois. This shooting left many people dead. He provided no reason for his crime but did post on social media right before.

Seven people died, and 46 civilians were wounded. This shooting occurred at 10:14AM. It started roughly fifteen minutes after the parade had started. The victims of this shooting have an age range from eight to eighty-five. Robert Eugene Crimo III was accused and admitted to his shooting and was charged with first degree murder.

“We are all mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, and this is a tragedy for many families, the victims, the paradegoers, the community, and our own. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to everybody.” Crimo’s parents said in a statement released by their attorney.

Crimo’s parents have been under security and are getting investigated. Police recently found out that Crimo’s dad sponsored Robert’s firearm license. Crimo’s dad was extremely surprised at the crime that his son had committed. This 21 year old was able to buy two guns despite Illinois’s strict state laws. Crimo’s father claimed that he had no idea this was going to happen or what his son planned to do. Neither of Crimo’s parents have yet been charged with a crime.

Many of America’s most dangerous shootings are carried out by people in their teens and early 20s. There have been more than 50 people who were under the age of 25 who have killed over four people at once in shootings since 1966. Many teens and adults have been hospitalized due to committing gun violence. “It’s terrifying enough to think you might be the victim of some random piece of violence,” said Andrew Solomon, an author who interviewed gunmen’s parents, “But to think you might be called out for not knowing, that your child had caused this, is also a terrible fate.”
