Military Parade and No Kings Protest
June 14th 2025, was the American army’s 250th anniversary. There was a military parade to celebrate the anniversary, President Trump’s birthday, and also the date of many No Kings protests. Both the No Kings protests and the military parade required meticulous planning, with the protests planned in response to the military parade and President Trump’s birthday.
The military parade was planned as a way to celebrate the Army’s 250th anniversary. This is the first military parade in quite a while, as the last one was in 1991. President Trump openly stated that he had wanted a military parade since he attended the 2017 Bastille Day parade in Paris.
There were helicopters and bombers galore, and even more vehicles and missiles to showcase America’s military. There were many precautions taken to make sure that the parade went smoothly. These include special fences that lined the whole procession path.
Critics say that President Trump’s spending on this event was excessive, spending as much as $45 million on the parade. It was designed to raise levels of national pride, but some say that it did the exact opposite. Critics also argued that it would look like America was reminiscing about past events.
The other event was the No Kings protests. Organized by a large number of organizations, there were around 2,000 protests in the U.S. These protests were the largest coordinated demonstrations in the United States since President Trump’s second term. The overall feeling of the protests varied by location, with many feeling more like parties. One notable location was Los Angeles, which after a week of protests and violence, had to endure even more violence. The crowd overstayed the 8 p.m. curfew, and police officers were sent to break up the protests, using chemical irritants and batons.
For some, the military parade ignited a strong sense of pride, but for others, it just reinforced suspicions about America transforming into an authoritarian state. With protests being held nearby and everywhere around the nation, the parade showcased America’s military might, but also many rising tensions between the people and the government.
