Orcas are ramming into boats near the coast of Portugal
Do you know what it means when Orcas are ramming into boats near the coasts of Portugal? Well,
the theory is that maybe they might be bored and treat them like toys. These incidents have been
going on since 2020. It first started when, off the coast of Spain, the sailors reported that
they saw Orcas hitting the rudder and hitting the boats with brute force.
How it all started
The theory is that White Gladis was struck by a boat or its propeller, which propels the boat forward. So, she started hitting boats rudders as revenge, then the trend spread for Orcas to hit coming boats
and sink or hit them. She was the first orca to ram boats can damage them.
The orca is a
mature in the Iberian orca family.
It might be on accident
The reason it might be an accident is that they are playful and curious. A young orca may
have been hitting the rudder due to how playful and curious it is. It also might be how orcas mimic
how other older orcas do so, they start doing it. Additionally, a theory is that the rudder may have
been a little loose, and they might be pulling it and making the boat sink.
A relief
These attacks have mostly been recorded on the coasts of Portugal and Spain. So, if you’re scared
to go on a boat in any other country’s coasts, you don’t have to worry. Because Orca populations
are the most in Portugal and Spain than in any other country. And people aren’t careful of hitting
Orcas. But be aware still coasts and be careful, avoid hitting them.
What to do
If orcas are targeting, follow these steps to be okay. Step 1: Don’t make any sudden movements or
make loud noises, because this can frighten them more. Step 2: If you’re safe, cut the engine,
because Orcas usually go away when your boat is not dirty. Step 3: If they are still there, you
should not get rid of them because they will be more scared and sink your boat. Step 4:
, because they know your location when you’re on call with them.
Conclusion
They attack random boats because their ringleader did it before, like White Gladis , and take revenge
for their leader.
