In Stika, Alaska, a family was losing hope of finding their blind golden retriever who had wandered away three weeks ago. However, a construction crew found Lulu in a salmonberry bush after initially thinking she was a bear.
Since Lulu is blind, she was barely alive after being found on Tuesday. But, even though she was alive, she had dropped 23 pounds since she was lost. She was dehydrated, dirty, and had matted fur.
The owner, Ted Kubacki, said, “She means everything. I have five daughters, and they’re 4 to 13 years old, so they’ve spent every day of their life with that dog. “
While searching for weeks, the family had given up hope. Then, a construction crew reported Lulu lying in a brush near the Kubacki’s home. When Lulu reunited with her family, she was in terrible condition. Now, she is nursing back to health, but Kubacki worries about the veterinarian’s bill.
However, Kubacki’s fears were turned upside down as Sitka residents had donated hundreds of dollars to help pay for Lulu’s bills.
“We have our family member home,” Kubacki said.
