An old oil rig was recently turned into a piece of art called the ‘See Monster.’ The 450-ton piece of art has been shipped to Weston-super-Mare beach in North Somerset after spending three decades in the North Sea. The oil rig was old, so scientists decided to make it an art piece.

An oil platform, oil rig, or gas production platform, is a large building like thing with many parts to contain and process natural gas that lie in rock formations beneath the surface of the water.

This oil rig was recently turned in to art. Although people worked hard it still will be delayed for opening. Due to the reason that is very large and heavy and is not easy constructed. When it is ready, visitors will be able to explore the ‘See Monster’ by stepping on board its four public levels that include lots of sculptures and a theater with seats and a broadcast studio.

What could be better for an art, other than an oil rig? “What better platform than a decommis-sioned oil rig? The whole point was to create a structure that was big, joyful, and create a real impact – and that’s what See Monster gave us the opportunity to do. It will have experiments in renewable futures – so new thinking in wind turbines and solar, a giant waterfall that comes down the front, and a huge amount of kinetic sculptures across the entire structure,” said Patrick O’Mahony

Here’s a bit of history of oil rigs. On August 27, 1859, George Bissell and Edwin L. Drake made the first drilling oil rig on a well drilled specially to drill oil out of the ground, at a place in Oil Creek near Titusville, Pennsylvania.

“They’ve learned to survive even though the world is confusing and difficult for them,”

Said Darren Groth.

This oil rig was turned in to art. There are many ways people can turn something in to something else. In the future many other things will be put to other uses.
