It’s football season, with the first NFL match coming up in less than a week. The Hall of Fame game starts this season off, starring the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Chargers. It’s time to list the top 5 NFL Power Rankings.
In first place, we have the Philadelphia Eagles, who sit atop the list with a recent Super Bowl win. Last year, they dominated the leaderboard as well, staying in first place. This year they take the top once more, even though they had a tough time matching last season, where they showed more energetic and successful performances.
In second place stands the Baltimore Ravens. Last year, they were ranked number 4 on the list, but made a great comeback with Lamar Jackson starting off with one of the best non-MVP seasons to be seen. However, things quickly stopped them from reaching number one as they lost 15 free agents in the offseason.
Taking third place is the Buffalo Bills, who, like the Eagles, stayed in the spot they claimed last year. The most credited player is Josh Allen, who came off his first MVP season. The Buffalo was ranked 8th in pressure percentage allowed and 4th in EPA last season.
Ranked 4th, we have the Kansas City Chiefs, who have dropped two ranks down from their last year’s spot. Patrick Mahomes, the full-time starter since joining, has helped the Kansas City Chiefs play more games than any other team, approximately 137. However, by the end of the season, the team looked exhausted and failed to make it further up into the rankings. This time, they should have a boost in this season, since Hollywood Brown played a combined six games last year due to injury, and because Rashee Rice is said to be pending suspension news.
Last but not least on this list are the Green Bay Packers. In the previous year, they were ranked 7th. They had drafted six wide receivers starting the last season in the past four years, so now it’s time for Jordan Love to smooth out the rough spots in his game. In the last two seasons, Love’s thrown twenty-seven interceptions, which is two more than any other NFL quarterback in that span of time.
There are many teams in the NFL power rankings, and being in the top 5 is an honor. This season, we will see if the Ravens can finally break through. Will the Bills’ defensive line be the key game breaker? How much longer can the Kansas Chiefs keep up their game in the top 5?
