Israel-Iran Conflict Escalates with Deadly Strikes and More Conflict
Iran and Israel are fighting. No one knows how long it will last. Both sides are completely ignoring the calls to end the fight. Iran and Israel are fighting after Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran’s nuclear sites on Friday. In response, Iran fired missiles at Israeli cities. The fighting has killed civilians in both countries. No one knows how long it will last. Both sides are completely ignoring international calls to stop.
Here’s the current situation: Israeli fighter jets bombed Tehran (the capital of Iran), including a major gas depot, the defense ministry, and nuclear sites, which caused huge fires in fuel tanks. People in both countries woke up on a Sunday morning from a fearful and restless night. The attacks were some of the worst attacks in history.
These strikes raised fear that war could spread and involve the U.S and other countries. The U.S. could be involved because it is a close ally of Israel and has a long history of supporting it. The U.S has supported Israel militarily, politically, and economically. If Israel is seriously threatened, the U.S. might step in to help.
Iran’s oil ministry stated that a major fuel depot (an automated fuel dispensing facility that dispenses fuel to businesses) in Tehran was hit and caught fire. Nearby people said the explosion felt like an earthquake, and others saw the fire spreading. More than 70 people were killed, including six top Iranian security leaders. It was a deadly night that led Iran to fighting back. Eight people, including women and children, were killed during the attacks. Many others were hurt, with some in severe conditionsbadly.
Since Friday, at least 11 civilians in Israel have died. Israel has around 150 strikes on Iran over two days, while Iranian forces have fired more than 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli territory. At first, Israel targeted Iran’s nuclear sites, air defenses, and military areas. But on Saturday, it went further by hitting a major fuel depot. Since energy is a big part of Iran’s economy, this was a serious blow. Israel also attacked air defenses in Tehran.
The United States’ possible role in the spiraling conflict is still unclear. While Israeli officials had hoped the Trump administration would participate in a joint attack, Secretary of State Marco Rubio does not approve of U.S. involvement in the strikes. Nevertheless, President Trump did not call for Israel to rein in its assault.
