Inside Israel and Iran’s War
On Friday June 13, 2025, Israel launched military strikes on Iran starting another war between the two countries. Israel started this war due to concerns with Iran developing nuclear weapons. Iran retaliated against Israel’s strikes by launching their own strikes.
Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel launched missile strikes to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons. Israel and Iran were enemies and had conflicts and wars for many years since 1985. Not long after Israel launched their missile strikes, Iran launched drones at Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Iran posed a significant threat to “Israel’s very survival” if it had nuclear weapons.
Nuclear weapons are very powerful explosives which can be powerful enough to wipe out a whole city. These bombs get their energy through fusing and splitting microscopic particles inside an atom. Currently, there are only five legally recognised countries that have nuclear weapons which include: the US, France, Russia, UK, and China. If Iran had these weapons, Israel would be in great danger due to how close the two countries are and their past relationships.
A group of countries called the G7, which includes the US, the UK, and Canada, will be meeting on June 16th in Canada. As of now, the two countries are still launching strikes at each other and neither is backing down.
