According to the Washington Post, NASA says that their SLS moon rocket is finished with testing and will be launched as soon as a hydrogen leak is fixed. NASA filled the rocket with over 700,000 gallons of liquid hydrogen and oxygen in a process known as the “wet dress rehearsal”. NASA did not complete the test because of a hydrogen leak they found.

Even though NASA found a leak, they are still satisfied with the results. Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, the launch director of the spacecraft Artemis, claimed that “It was a very successful day, and we accomplished a majority of the objectives that we had not completed in the prior tests.”

As the Washington Post claims, NASA was at first unsure of whether they needed to go through the test again. They reviewed data from the rehearsal and decided that the rocket was ready to launch. According to the Washington Post, the launch window could be from August 23rd to September 6th.

According to the Washington Post, the launch, Artemis I, will send the Orion capsule to the moon’s orbit. Next would be the Artemis II which would send 4 astronauts to the moon’s orbit in 2024, and then the first landing would be at around 2025.
