Copper golem is finally here!
In July 2025, Mojang Studios added the Copper Golem to the Minecraft Bedrock beta as part of the “Update Drop 3” experimental release. The golem, first introduced during the 2021 Minecraft Live Mob Vote, did not win at the time. Still, according to BBC Newsround, fan enthusiasm never stopped, and Mojang has now brought it into the game due to fans demanding it. The mob vote is a fan vote for a new mob, typically in response to a new update.
The Copper Golem is a small, buildable mob designed to assist players sort and move items. As explained by Minecraft Wiki, the golem is created by placing a carved pumpkin on a copper block. After it has been built, it links to a new copper chest and automatically distributes items into nearby chests, scanning up to ten at a time and moving stacks of up to 16 items.
According to Polygon, the golem also features a unique oxidation mechanic. Just like copper blocks, it slowly changes from bright orange to green over time unless players apply honeycomb to preserve its appearance. This adds both personality and strategy, encouraging players to care for their golems if they want to keep them looking fresh.
The update also includes copper tools, armor, and chests, giving the once-decorative material a much more practical role in survival gameplay. As stated by Polygon, a gaming website, copper gear now fills the gap between stone and iron equipment, offering new choices for early-game progression.
The Copper Golem’s arrival shows how community feedback can shape the future of Minecraft. While it may have lost the original mob vote to the Allay, Mojang’s decision to add it anyway highlights the influence of long-term fan support.
Currently, the Copper Golem is only available in Bedrock Edition’s beta and preview versions, but it’s expected to appear in Java snapshots later this summer. A full release is planned for fall 2025!
As Minecraft continues to grow, this little helper was truly a hidden gem!
