On June 30th, Technoblade, a 23-year-old famous YouTuber, died of Stage 4 cancer. He was known for his Minecraft videos, in which he filmed himself playing and provided gaming commentary. His community of over 13 million subscribers mourned his death.
On Thursday, a video titled “so long nerds” was posted on his YouTube channel. “If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life,” he wrote before his death. His father read his message on the video gaining vast amounts of views within hours.
“I hope you guys enjoyed my content and that I made some of you laugh, and I hope you all go on to live long, prosperous and happy lives because I love you guys. Technoblade out.”
He also revealed his name, Alex, and thanked his fans. Prominent creators like Dream and servers like Hypixel took a moment to celebrate his life, and Hypixel threw a massive parade in his honor.
“From Technoblade’s earliest online days, he was always strategizing ways to delight and reward his audience – giving away online prizes, encouraging good sportsmanship, and most of all sharing his Minecraft adventures for entertainment
and laughs,” his mother said.
Users everywhere acknowledged him and his contributions to the gaming community. One Reddit user said, “Alex, you have been the pillar of our community. We all loved your content. You are one the most kind and charitable and wholesome individuals our community has had the privilege to be with.”
Even adults on Twitter honored him, saying, “So, so sad to hear about the death of Technoblade, a talented and hilarious 23-year- old YouTuber I often watched with my son. My thoughts are with Alex’s family and friends and fans.”
