Football Legend Diego Maradona died of a heart attack– he was only 60 years old. Eight medical personnel are to stand trial, accused of criminal negligence while performing operations on Maradona. The Judge ordered a culpable homicide trial after an independent medical group found out that Maradona’s case was treated with deficiencies and errors.

All eight medical personnel denied responsibility for his death. In an interview, one of the doctors that treated Maradona said that he did everything he could to save the football icon.

Maradona is widely considered the greatest football player of all time. He was captain of the Argentinian team when he won the world cup in 1986, scoring the famous “Hand of God” in the quarterfinals.

In the second half of his career, Maradona was struggling with cocaine addictions and was banned for 15 months after testing positive for the drug in 1991. His lifestyle negatively impacted his health, and this is why he was receiving treatment.

Demand for answers grew with each reference to his treatment. The findings of the medical panel are getting more and more damning, showing clear evidence that his drug use contributed to his death.

Diego Maradona’s death devastated football fans worldwide. In a three day long grieving period of Maradona’s death, thousands walked by his flag draped coffin in tears. Memories of the old times are still clear in their head. Now, fans hope justice is served.
