Keira D’Amato is 37 and a mother of two children, yet she is America’s fastest marathon runner. Over the Fourth of July weekend, Keira D’Amato got a once in a lifetime phone call.

Team USA’s top marathoner, Molly Seidel, dropped out of the upcoming World Athletics Championships due to injury, and D’Amato was summoned as an alternate to represent her country on the sport’s biggest stage.

She was almost completely unprepared because she was given very short notice, but she ended up breaking the US record!
