This past Saturday, Katie Ledecky participated in the women’s 400-meter freestyle. Ledecky swam completed the race in a time of 3:58.15, earning her fourth world title.

Ledecky began swimming at the age of six since her mother and older brother were swimming. In 2015, Ledecky earned five gold medals and broke three world records, and she began her professional swimming career in 2018. Last month, Ledecky’s record of 3:58.15 was beaten by the Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus in a time of 3:56.40.

But Ledecky refused to be unmotivated. She said that during the race, she felt “smooth and strong”. In fact, when the competition ended, she and Titmus were friendly toward each other.
