On June 11, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber told the public that he has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a rash that is painful on the face, around the ears, and on the mouth. It is also a virus that attacks the facial nerves and can cause blisters. Chickenpox causes the virus, but it usually rests dormant in the body. The syndrome may present itself if a person experiences severe emotional stress or has a weak immune system.
Bieber’s face is half-paralyzed. “As you can see,” he said in an Instagram video, “this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move.” Because of this setback, Bieber has postponed three shows on his Justice World Tour.
Today, Bieber is relaxing while receiving the finest treatment possible to heal his body. “I’m gonna get better,” he said. “I’m doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal – and it will go back to normal. It’s just time, and we don’t know how much time that’s going to be.”
Many fans are sad and concerned about his medical condition, but Bieber is expected to make a full recovery.
