Chapter 3
Jamie jumped with joy as her mother went upstairs to grab the cat and take it to the vet. She was going to get a cat! A new cat that was less expensive, and might turn out to be very fluffy and white itself. Her mother came out of the garage, this time with the whole basket that held Jamie’s new cat, and with a purse. “Well, Jamie! It is time to go. Do you want to come with me?”
“I was thinking about that the whole time you were in the house-“
“So do you want to come with me?”
“What do you think? Hey, can we name the cat Mi- “
“Jamie.”
“Yes!”
The two were at the vet, making sure that the cat was safe and healthy. The vet checked its pulse, and rubbed its limbs. The vet also stated that this cat was a male, so it would not have kittens. Later it was at the pet store, where Jamie had never felt more excited. She picked out some animal cracker-shaped cat treats, her mother picked out the right type of food, and Jamie picked out all of the toys her new kitten would stare at longingly. Then she would lay the toys in the basket, so the cat would play and bite the toys. They payed for the items and went to the pet section in a furniture store.
Now Jamie would be able to pick some more toys, and a white and fuzzy cat condo. It had 3 parts, where the base was a cylinder with a hole for the cat to crawl into, and above it was a plate-shaped oval where the cat could jump onto and rest on. The third part was like a nest, that would be where the toys are out. It was just like a storage. Then Jamie picked two bowls: One for milk or water, and another for food. The treats would go in a little bottle which Jamie would feed the cat with. Jamie found a pink bowl with white paw prints on it, and a white bowl with pink paw prints that came with the pink one. Both of the them had the word CAT on it. “Jamie, I am pretty sure that is enough for today.” (Great description in this paragraph!)
“I know. I am choosing only what I need to, which is the least amount it will need. Therefore, I will choose the best of each item the cat needs.”
“Thank goodness Jamie, there’s the common sense!”
They laughed, payed for the items, and happily drove home.
Jamie was at home, with her new cat. “Mom.”
“Yes?”
“Can we name this kitten?”
“Why not? I wanted to name him Fluffy.”
“I want to name him Mildo…..”
“Go ahead, but that is a weird name!”
“Yeah. so let’s name it… Plushie.”
“Okay, sounds good!”
“Plushie, Plushie, where are you? Ahh, where did you go?”
“Jamie, Plushie is right behind you, trying to open the cat food.”
Jamie laughed, and turned around to see Plushie. Jamie washed the bowls she bought and set them next to the fireplace. She then dumped some cat food into the white bowl, and filled the pink bowl with water. As Jamie began to start building the cat condo, her mom put Plushie into a little tub, filled it with water, and started to wash Plushie with a little bit of soap. A few minutes later, Jamie finished building the cat condo, put the toys onto the 3rd part of it, and went to help her mom clean Plushie. At the moment, though, Plushie was out of the tub getting dried with a towel Jamie offered to help, and was finished in a minute. Now everything was ready for Plushie! Plushie trotted to the living room and saw the bowls of food. He finished it off and was on the second part of the cat condo, fast asleep. “Jamie, I am beginning to agree with you-a cat enriches the house.” Jamie smiled and was off to bed.
