Jackie Young plays basketball well, but she is trying to play better.
Jackie Young, an Indiana native, is a Las Vegas Aces guard, an Olympic gold medalist.
She is also a W.N.B.A. All-Star.
Young is in her 4th WNBA (women basketball association) season. “It was always a
dream of mine to play in the W.N.B.A., and it came down to making a decision for my
family. I knew I needed to help my family, and that’s what I’ve worked for my whole life,”
Young said.
When Young came to Vegas in 2019, it was a major move from Indiana. She was the
middle sibling, and her younger sister and older brother played basketball too. Now she
is a veteran.
“I want her to be an animal. That’s what I want,” Aces Coach Becky Hammon added. “I
want her to understand that she can impact a game like that and demand that kind of
attention offensively.” Young has dreamed that she could be in the W.N.B.A, and her
dream came true.
She gets around 17 hoops a game, more than 10 points per game above her regular
amount in her rookie season. Her 46.9 percent accuracy from 3-point range is among
the best in the league entering the All-Star break.
