Over the pandemic, indie rock band Beach Bunny’s debut album Cloud 9 went viral on Tik Tok, gaining thousands of fans worldwide. The founder of the group, Lili Trifilio, has recently received an exponential increase in popularity while supporters eagerly anticipate her next solo release this upcoming week.
Commenting on Beach Bunny’s newfound fame, Trifilio commented, “Over the pandemic, Beach Bunny has grown like 200 percent, and I don’t know what to expect.” In August 2021, the band performed at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, blowing away a sold-out concert in Brooklyn.
Tik Tok fans and other artists such as Tegan Quin of the indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara are craving more of Beach Bunny’s unique lyrics that reach people’s hearts. Over a phone interview, Tegan Quin stated, “The lyrics are so smart, and melodically I find all their songs to be really creative.”

During the pandemic, Trifilio delved into music production by watching countless interviews with iconic pop stars such as Grimes. A long-time fan, Trifilio takes inspiration from Grimes’ upbeat and aggressive songs such as “Kill V. Main.” Experimenting with something new, Beach Bunny is now going to incorporate similar electro styles in their next songs.
Last spring, Beach Bunny began recording their next album, “Emotional Creature,” at Chicago Shirk Studios, coming soon on July 22nd, 2022. This album will feature an explosive and catchy lead song “Entropy,” to the 6-minute finale “Love Song.”
Lili Trifilio is extremely excited about their new, eccentric album. “It still sounds like Beach Bunny,” Trifilio said, “but it just sounds a little more grown up. Which I’m happy with because I’m growing up.”
