On the day before Beach Bunny’s show in Brooklyn, member Lili Trifilio was feeling nervous. “Over the pandemic, Beach Bunny has grown like 200 percent, and I don’t know what to expect” she admitted.

Most of Beach Bunny’s growth came online during the pandemic. Their song “Cloud 9” contributed to most of their recent growth; it was part of their album “Honeymoon” which released in February of 2020. The song began to go viral in March of 202, and more than 360,000 videos had been made with the song and it has been streamed over 240 million times on Spotify. A variety of artists and actors also noticed the song. Including Tegan and Sara, the indie pop duo, and actor Bob Odenkirk.

Odenkirk wrote in an email, “I’m an older white guy, and her lyrics are about longing and written from a female perspective, but I still feel very connected to the pain and estrangement of my 14-year-old self, and I always will.”

Tegan also had compliments of her own, “The lyrics are so smart, and melodically I find all their songs to be really creative.” She and her twin sister Sara would even join Trifilio to make a new fan requested version.

Beach Bunny is slowly, but surely building their career as an Indie-Rock band.
