Trump is preparing for big immigration enforcement in Chicago soon, which could bring additional federal agents and cause big protests. President Trump says that this big plan was to fight crime and enforce immigration laws, but many city leaders disagree. Protesters then began to gather in Chicago. Protests are planned in response to ICE raids, with city leaders and residents expressing uncertainty and fear. They argue that the crime in Chicago has decreased the last few years and having additional agents coming only create fear along the people. As a result, schools started preparing to help families rights if immigration officers come. Many events happened in Chicago and especially in Latino communities, that are anxious about the restriction coinciding with Mexican Independence Day and others. This leads to canceling events and reducing public participation. City leaders then started to encourage peaceful protests in against of the violent protest from the people since they were feeling threatened and scared. While opposition crackdown is strong, though some residents support for federal intervention, to address local crime issues. “Lift your voice but not your hand,” Mr. Gutiérrez said. “The only one who wins when there is violence is Donald Trump, because he wins by saying that the people of the city of Chicago need the National Guard because it is a city of violence.” Furthermore, the atmosphere of fear and uncertainty is clear, and effecting daily life.
