Have you ever heard of the company named MoFi Records? The article How a Phoenix Record Store Owner Set the Audiophile World on Fire, written by Geoff Edgers, discusses how the MoFi Records company claimed that their productions were made of pure analog, but have been deceiving their customers for years. After reading this article, I would rate it a four out of five because of the length of the passage, how much detail the author included, and the lack of complete consistency in the passage.
First, the article length is satisfactory, unlike less thorough authors, writing maybe a page or two about a topic. Edgers writes a five-page article, aiming to produce a detailed account of this news piece. Although the article may seem too long for several people at first glance, it is worth reading.
Edgers makes sure to include an abundant amount of information. When an article is long, it is not guaranteed that there is much information. There is even a possibility that the author is repeating random information just to make their passage seem descriptive at first glance. However, Edgers adds new pieces of information wherever he can, making the passage satisfactory for readers like me. Despite the positive aspects, the amount of information can be a drawback for some.
The author doesn’t make the passage smooth enough to make the readers comfortable. Writing smoothly means having a fluent transition from once piece of information to the other. If there’s a sudden change in the topic, then it could make the reader feel uncomfortable or possibly overwhelm them.
In conclusion, these are the three reasons for my rating of four out of five. The passage was long, which made it entertaining, the number of details that the author included was satisfactory, but Edgers’ wordy piece was not very consistent. Other than the one negative aspect I included, the article would have been perfect. Overall, I really enjoyed reading through this article, and I hope that I can read more like these in the future.
