After inspection of Argentine footballer Diego Maradona’s death, it has been determined by a panel of twenty experts that Maradona’s medical team acted in an “inappropriate, deficient, and reckless manner.” A judge has ordered a culpable homicide trial for the eight members of Maradona’s medical team.

According to the ruling, with more adequate treatment in an appropriate medical facility, the footballer would “have had a better chance of survival.”

Maradona had been recovering at home from surgery on a blood clot earlier that month in Buenos Aires, and his doctors had been accused of practicing negligence when knowing it could have led to the death of Maradona. He had become seriously ill about twelve hours before his death, and according to a seventy-page report submitted by the twenty members of the panel investigating his death, he was “not properly monitored” during this time period.

Argentine newspaper Clarín stated that the panel accused Maradona’s medical team of leaving his survival “to fate.”

Fate was not kind to the football player who scored the “Hand of God” goal during the 1986 World Cup and proceeded to win that same year.

Mario Baudry, a lawyer for one of Maradona’s sons, stated “As soon as I saw the cause, I said it was homicide. I fought for a long time and here we are, with this stage completed.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Leopoldo Luque, gave a tearful interview, in which he said he had done “everything he could, up to the impossible.” He added, “You want to know what I am responsible for? For having loved him, for having taken care of him, for having extended his life, for having improved it to the end.”

At the end of his career, Maradona struggled with cocaine addiction, which had unquestionably ruined his health to some extent. However, Aged at just 60 in November of 2020, Maradona passed at what seemed to many to be much earlier than before his time should have ended.
