trend has taken the world by storm, confusing parents, getting people kicked out of the theaters, but above all, generating hype for minions.

Ever since the release of the new movie Minions: The Rise of Gru, groups of teenage boys have been taking videos of themselves wearing suits to the movie theater. The movie has already earned $164 million during the first week it was released. A lot of this success may have to do with the ongoing

trend.

A video on TikTok showed a group of 22 boys in suits going down an elevator in Singapore about to watch the new Minions movie. “You actually get a lot of stares,” said Devan Rajen, an 18-year-old student in the video, “People probably thought we were humiliating ourselves.”

However, sometimes this trend is anything but gentle. People watching the movie should expect bananas flying in the air, mosh pits, and crazy teenagers. Some cinemas have have tried to warn the teens about their disrespectful behavior or even put up signs saying suits aren’t allowed.

A couple of the teenagers in the trend admit it. “I didn’t like the movie,” said Joshua Law, who originally in the viral TikTok, “But I liked the atmosphere.” Law says that teens act the way teens do because “We’re just bored. There’s not really anything else better to do.”

It doesn’t matter how we manage to do it, but the next generation always comes up with interesting new trends.
