South Korean Gee Chun competed in the LPGA, winning her third major title and her first six years. Her total score was five under with a three-over-par 75 on her last round. She started off three shots ahead, but she didn’t do as well in her final round which included five bogeys and three birdies. However, she still managed to finish on top with only a one-shot lead.
The game was very close, as coming into the end of the match Minjee Lee and Lexi Thompson were tied in second place. Stephanie Meadow was tied in tenth place on level par. She started with a sixty-four, then followed by a sixty-nine then with two seventy-fives.
Thompson, who was watching from the driving seat in the closing stages, bogeyed to her final three holes to sign for a 73. “It just means a lot because I didn’t have any wins for almost three-and-a-half years,” said Chun. Prior to the match, Chun was ranked in 33 in the whole world. She ended up winning $1.35 Million dollars, which was a huge deal for her. “My loyal fans in Korea, they never gave up on me no matter how I did.” Chun said.
