Imagine you are currently on a basketball team, in the middle of the season. All is well, except suddenly, there is a searing pain in your leg. As you crumple to the ground and paramedics rush to you, you hear them saying that you tore a muscle. It’s been a year now, you’re fully healed, and you’re playing basketball again, but you are on a different team with a different coach.

This is exactly what Serena Williams went through last year, but in tennis. This year, she is excited to play at Wimbledon again and possibly win. At last year’s Wimbledon, in her first match, she slipped on the court and tore her hamstring.

Now, she is back with a new coach, Eric Hechtman, who is determined to make sure that when Williams shows up again at Wimbledon, she will win. The new coach change is because her old coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, decided to split with her. According to Eric, he knows that, “Though this is his first tournament with Serena, he clearly understands the goal is not simply to make an appearance and improve on last year, no matter how long Serena has gone without competing.”

Other than trying to win Wimbledon, she, along with many other women tennis players have been asked about their opinion on abortion. Other players, like Coco Gauff have said, “Obviously I feel bad for future women and women now, but I also feel bad for those who protested for this. I don’t even know how many years ago, but who protested for this and are alive to see that decision be reversed.”

When Williams was asked for her opinion, she said that she didn’t have any comments concerning abortion.
