On July 14, 2022, Ivana Trump was found unconscious by the staircase of her Manhattan townhouse. She was the ex-wife of former U.S. president Donald Trump. She was also a former Czech Republican skier, model, and a pillar of Trump’s business career.
Mourning of mother, and ex-husband’s reaction
Trump’s three children mourn her death, but her ex-husband was the first to speak. He posted on his social media platform, Truth, “I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City. She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life… Rest In Peace Ivana!”
Though they divorced 30 years ago, the two were still very close friends, and talked with each other often. Following Donald Trump’s post, Ivana Trump’s three children each posted a message on Twitter to show how much love they had for her. Donald Trump’s current wife, Melania, has not yet reacted publicly to the 73-year-old’s death.

At 12:40 p.m. on July 14, police received a call from Trump’s East 64th Street lodging. Police declared that she was dead, and searched for any signs of “forced entry, or obvious signs of trauma suggesting criminality.” After a thorough examination of the scene, the NYPD found no evidence to suggest criminality. This led officials to think that Trump fell to her death, as her hip showed “blunt impact injuries.” According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “More than one in four Americans older than 65 fall each year, and falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among the age group.”
