Deadly floods hit south Asia
In the week of November 24, 2025, 2 strong hurricanes caused tremendous flooding in countries in southern Asia. Over 1,100 people have died, and millions have lost their homes.
These hurricanes are called Cyclone Senyar and Cyclone Ditwah. Cyclone Senyar first hit Indonesia and Thailand, which weakened the hurricane. Cyclone Ditwah first hit Indonesia, which also weakened this hurricane. Cyclone Senyar has now moved to Malaysia, Cyclone Ditwah has now moved to South India.
Some countries that were impacted harder are Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Over 600 people have been killed in Indonesia, and more than 350 people have died in Sri Lanka. In Indonesia, 570 thousand people have been forced to leave their houses. In Sri Lanka, these hurricanes destroyed 25 thousand houses and now around 147 thousand people are living in temporary shelters set up by the government.
