Cricket is coming back to the Olympics
After more than 100 years, the Olympics are announcing that they will bring back cricket. The last game was in 1900, Britain versus France. Britain won the game.
How do you play cricket?
There is a big oval-shaped field with a rectangle in it. On both short ends of the rectangle, there is a stand. The stand is made of 3 pieces of wood standing up with bales balanced on top. There is a bowler and a batter. The bowler bowls the ball to the batter, then the batter has to hit the ball. After that, the batter and bowler need to run around the inside of the rectangle until the ball gets caught. Each time the batter and bowler go to the other side, they gain a point. However, if the bail and wood are knocked down, then the batter and bowler are out.
How will the next game be played?
In 2028, cricket will be played in a short format called T20 or Twenty20. 6 teams will be playing, one country from every big region. People think that the chosen countries will be India, the UK, South Africa, Australia, and the USA. The USA is chosen since it is the host. The regions are the Americas, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the ocean. The matches will happen from July 12th to July 29th. The games will be hosted in Fairplex Stadium in Pomona.
