Cricket Comes Back to the Olympics.
Cricket will be played in Los Angeles, USA, at the 2028 Summer Olympics, signaling the sport’s return after 128 years. The games will end on 7/29/28, starting from 7/12/28. All the matches will be in Pomona at the Fairplex Stadium, approximately 50 kilometers from Los Angeles. The men’s final will be on 7/29/28, and the women’s final will be on 7/20/28. The last time cricket was in the Olympics was in Paris, France, in 1900. Only two teams, France and Great Britain, played the game. In the end, Great Britain triumphed. But now, cricket will come back in new way.
At the 2028 Summer Olympics, cricket will be played in a short format called Twenty20 or T20. Each team gets to play 120 balls (20 overs) to win runs. The team with the most runs wins the game. One match takes around 3 hours to finish. There will be 6 women’s teams and 6 men’s teams. Teams can win bronze, silver, and even gold medals, exactly like other Olympic Games!
Only one country from the six regions can play cricket. The six regions include Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. These will probably be Australia, Great Britain, India, South Africa, and the USA. The USA has already been chosen because it will host the game. The last spot in the game will be a team that wins a unique event. Teams like Bangladesh, New Zealand, or Pakistan might win. There is a unique circumstance for the West Indies. That is because it is a collection of many different countries, like Barbados and Jamaica, so they play together in the game. However, only one country can be in the Olympics, so they will play a minor game to decide the team.

Having cricket in the Summer Olympics will support and develop the sport, especially in countries where it has just been introduced, including the USA. If everything works, cricket might be an official sport in the Olympics!
