Ryan’s Time Travel Adventure
Ryan was a 10-year-old science whiz who loved science and building cool stuff in his garage. One day, he made a weird-looking compass with magnets and a glowing button. Just for fun, he pressed the button, ZAP! In a flash, Ryan was gone.
He landed in the middle of the Ice Age. Snow swirled around him, and giant glaciers sparkled in the sun. He had no idea where he was… until he saw a giant woolly mammoth walking toward him! Ryan’s eyes widened with excitement. “That looks amazing! I would love to ride it!” he exclaimed. But the mammoth didn’t look friendly. It snorted and charged right at him.
Ryan turned and dashed, slipping on the ice. Just then, some Ice Age people in warm fur clothes timely grabbed him and pulled him behind big rocks. They threw stones at the mammoth, but it didn’t stop.
Ryan had an idea. He first banged sticks together to make loud sounds, then rubbed berries on the trees to trick the mammoth’s nose, and last, he slid across the ice to get its attention. Overwhelmed by the sudden noises, strange smells, and unexpected movements, the mammoth grew confused and unsettled. It let out a loud snort and finally walked away. The people cheered and expressed their gratitude by offering Ryan berries and water as a token of thanks.
As the sun dipped low, Ryan spotted a dark cave. On the wall were drawings, and one of them looked just like the symbol of his compass. He remembered it needed sunlight and magnetic power to work. From his backpack, Ryan pulled out a piece of shiny metal and used sticks to build a little reflector. He placed the compass near a magnetic rock and aimed the sunlight at it. Just then, the mammoth came back, charging again!
Ryan pressed the button just in time, ZAP! He landed back in his garage, snow still in his hair. His dad walked in. “Where were you?” he asked. Ryan smiled. “On an adventure,” he said.
