A Murder Mystery Podcast
Aunt May Waverly readjusted the microphone in front of her as she smiled, “ And that concludes today’s Wednesday podcast! See you next week!” Her face glitched into a black rectangle as Hazel Waverly pressed a button on the remote control and sighed. She had the best aunt in the world! One who always had a Wednesday podcast, talking about the latest crime scenes and murder mysteries. Most would be spooked, but Hazel wasn’t. Sometimes, if she wanted to get into her comfort zone, she would listen to her grandmother’s podcast recordings while doing homework or going to sleep.
Next Monday, Hazel was watching a news channel when her grandmother’s face popped up in the next window. She clicked on it and dropped the remote control. She saw her face scarred in places that she didn’t understand. Hazel was never in a crime scene or a murder mystery.
“ Hazel Waverly was the only person in a car driven by a drunkard who survived the crash. There were four people in the car. The bodies were not found except for the remains of the broken, shattered car.” Aunt May said grimly. Hazel furrowed her eyebrows. In the summer, all she did was stay at home. She never had a drunk friend or a car, for she was only 13.
She dialed her aunt’s number quickly and took deep breaths to slow down her quivering heartbeat.
“Auntie! Yes! Okay, that podcast just now, how was it about me?”
“You? Today? Darling, my podcasts are on Wednesday only! I don’t film on Mondays! I’m in the Bahamas, relaxing with my friends!”
“What? How could this be? I just saw you film your podcast!”
“That wasn’t me, dear. Maybe someone else?” Her aunt hung up and left Hazel in shock. a mysterious cloaked figure appeared from the shadows and started talking, leaving her even more shocked.
