Once a week, every Wednesday, at exactly 2:00 pm, the whole Earth shuts down for 90 minutes, with no lights, no Wifi, nothing. Just Usually, everybody goes home, except for Riley and Morgan. They begin their life of crime the second the lights and power shut off, the second they can show their true selves. Riley and Morgan grew up in New York and went to school with rich fancy private school kids. They were always seen as less than, under average, the backup friend. Nobody understood them; nobody wanted to get to know them. Until they met each other, two girls in a school both felt lonely. What could go wrong? They instantly clicked, like two Lego bricks that fit perfectly for each other. Always talking about their “superiors” at school, they hated them. In fact they had made a plan as soon as they graduated high school and turned 18, they would run away to Florida and live on the beach. “What makes Alyssa think she’s so much better?” asked Riley. “She and her friends are not better, it’s about attitude. They act like having money makes them special. Newsflash, kindness, talent, and actual personality matter way more.”

The next day at school Riley and Morgan are at their lockers before third period. The hallway is mostly empty, which is pretty normal considering everyone is going home for lockdown in a few minutes., everyone is going home for lockdown. walk down the hallway and realize no one is here, not a single soul is in this hallway. Down to the left, is Alyssa’s locker. Of course, the queen bee’s locker stands out with its hot pink color and glitter. The two girls find themselves walking closer and closer to that eye-catching shade of pink. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Morgan asks. “Depends, why are we here?” says Riley as she looks around to make sure no one is watching. “The only way we get respected is if we make some big moves in the game. We’re just pawns to their game. Here’s her stuff, and no one’s looking. Cameras turn off in 1 minute. Go for it.” says Morgan. As lights, phones, and cameras shut off around the world, the two girls snatch Alyssa’s bag and leave. The next day at school, everyone is finding who took Alyssa’s bag. No one would ever suspect that the two lonely kids at school did it. Ever since that day, Every Wednesday at 2:00 pm, Morgan and Riley would wait until everything shuts down and they would steal something new from Alyssa.
