Kitty Katie
Once upon a time, there was a girl whose skin was as soft as a cat, her eyes gleaming brightly, making her night vision great. When she was born, she was an unusual baby. She looked totally normal for every part under the neck, but she had black fur all over her face with a pair of triangular ears – her face looked just like a cat. The girl was called Katie – a name that sounds similar to Kitty.
Her parents were shocked when they saw Katie as a baby. They accepted Katie’s appearance after the initial shock and gave Katie all the love and care. But, they still felt ashamed of producing a cat-like child. Their neighbors had cats, and Katie loved to meow back at the cats, so her first language was “catonese.” Then, she learned English and asked: “Can I play with the thing that goes purrr-purrr at night?”
Her parents looked at each other worriedly, as they had never let their child out of the house before. Katie’s parents were worried she would notice that her cat features weren’t like any other human’s features and would get mad at her parents.
Katie’s parents worried that a cat would disturb their sleep, and that it would make Katie feel like a cat, so they disagreed. However, the next day, they found the neighbor’s cat waiting at the doorstep, so they took it in, very grudgingly, and Katie immediately began to play with it. “You are my first friend! And you look somewhat like me!” Katie told the cat with excitement. The cat told her of how it didn’t get enough food and water, but when it meowed, it just got a slap on the head, a sigh, and more milk.
Just then, an article popped up about how the cats meowed too loudly, and the author encouraged everyone to ban all the cats from entering the town. Katie saw the article while reading the news. She immediately thought about the information that her cat friend has told her. Then she posted several comment on the article explaining the cause of the situation together with a solution to stop the noisy meowing. She even made a lot of calls to all the public service departments she knew to let them know about the solution. Then, the government tried it, and it worked! The government granted Katie a special prize of 2 kittens, newborn and cute.
From that day on, Katie became the “bridge” between the cat community and the town. The residents and kittens lived and worked happily together in the town. All thanks to Katie!
