Beauty Through the Lines

									our world covered with lines

									streaking across the surface

									jagged edges cutting in

									burrowing into the holes

									anger hiding

									each flaw buried

									underneath fake smiles

									and sweet words.

									money and power

									push people to destroy

									how easy to ruin

									instead of create

									homes ripped up

									animals gone extinct

									and for what

to satisfy our own selfish needs?

one desperate action for a loved one

compensates for a life in prison

									hate overwhelms minds

									cruelty beyond thought

									money lavishly spent on

									goods, riches, jewelry, trinkets

									while people go hungry

									begging on the streets

									some fight over petty things

									an extra candy or cake

									but how would they feel

if they were sitting in war?

									blood painting the sky

									screams of mercy

									families left behind

									never to return

									but each person can change

									so can the world

									the sun still shines

									the wind still waves

									there are plagues among

									the well shaped surface

true smiles still light the world

									beauty through the lines.
