A Steaming Coffee Mug

so much depends

so much comes

upon from

a steaming coffee

mug

resting in morning

light

next to the open

book

This poem is inspired by the poem “The Red Wheelbarrow” by William Carlos Williams. The poem follows an eight stanza structure, which uses a few-syllable line stanza followed by a one-syllable linean even shorter one.

As I was sipping from my mug and thinking about what to write, I realized the answer was right in front of me. The mug was my poem.

While writing this poem, right across the table from me was a coffee mug, so I decided to write about that. There was also a book near me while I was writing. That gave me inspiration for this poem. Like last time, in case the poem disappears, I am going to copy and paste it again.
