On early Sunday morning June 26th, 2022, at least 20 people died at a nightclub in a town of East London, South Africa. African police are investigating the cause of the deaths.
It is said that a group of young people gathered in the nightclub to celebrate the completion of their winter tests when the incident happened.
It is unclear how they died because there were no visible injuries on their bodies.
Health department spokesperson Siyanda Manana said autopsies will be performed to
determine the possible cause of death.
The police called the owner of the club, Siyakhangela Ndevu, to the scene to help with the
investigation. “I am still uncertain about what really happened, but when I was called in the
morning I was told the place was too full and that some people were trying to force their way into the tavern,” Siyakhangela Ndevu says. “However, we will hear what the police
say about the cause of death,” Siyakhangela Ndevu added.
It is likely that a gas leak may have killed the youths
