Swallowed Star
Swallowed Star is based on a main character called Luo Feng, who cultivates and traverses the universe and outside of it. It integrates science into the work and also adds a wonderfully crafted martial arts system with many different realms. At the start, you might get confused with many different things to remember, such as realm names, names of characters, and also the universe.
Even so, the book written by I Eat Tomatos is one of the best webnovels out there, with millions of reads. It is one of the best pieces of literature written and is written in a traditional Chinese way, with cultivation and martial arts. One of the reasons is that the author is Chinese. It embraces how the beliefs of cultivating to the peak and also about protecting his family no matter what, even if his life can be used. These things come together into an adventure novel, and how certain things can change how people see things.
One downside of this is that since it is written in Chinese, it is hard to translate. Also, some of the idioms can’t be translated in a way that makes sense. Although it’s a great novel for someone to read during their downtime, sometimes the essence, or main point, of the novel doesn’t come through. Especially when you read with lots of time in between each read.
Another downside of this novel is very lengthy. It takes a while to read through its 1486 chapters, and it ends with a cliffhanger, leading the reader to believe it has a second part to it, which it does.
Some of the strengths of Swallowed Star are its ability to capture the reader’s mind and get them immersed in this thrilling novel about adventure, growth, and challenges. It shows how even with different ways of doing things, it can be similar in a certain way. It can also explain some things about the unknown space and what’s beyond the universe, known as the universe ocean, Land of Origin, and the Infinite Primordial Space in the novel. Although it’s fictional, it can entertain the reader with such thoughts.
The second novel, Swallowed Star 2: Land of Origin, is still an ongoing continuation of the first novel. It continues with its cultivation and also makes the reader continue wanting more. It focuses on different aspects of it compared to the first book, though. The first book is about spiritual cultivation, with minimal physical. The second book is almost completely about understanding the body and also understanding the supreme daos. This abrupt change can be refreshing to some readers while being a disappointment to others.
At the end of the day, even with its flaws, it’s a great book and I recommend it to all of you. With its thrilling adventures, entrancing challenges, and Luo Feng’s talents and wits, you just can’t get bored with it. This thriller of a novel is great in its own way, and I highly recommend it. It even has an anime about it as well, so you can enjoy that alongside the novel.
